Earthworks in the Ancient Americas
Long before contact with the European world, civilizations throughout the Americas developed large-scale earthworks in the form of drawings, sculptural imagery, mounds, elaborate embellishments for cave entrances, urban design plans, and solar alignments related to calendrical readings.
